A Break in the Clouds: Stories of Newberg

An Original Play based on True Local Stories
Directed by Caleb Thurston

About the Play
A man stands in an Oregon downpour, staring up toward a overcast sky. What is he waiting for? Each long, dark winter we wonder if spring will ever return to the valley. Based on true stories told by diverse residents as well as research of local historical figures, this original play brings to life the tales of Newberg’s dreamers, past and present. Many stories will be recognizable to Newberg residents while others are obscure. Focusing on the aspirations of each character, the play asks the questions, what are we striving for? And what are we willing to give in order to achieve our goals? The stories of our neighbors promise to surprise and inspire audiences of all ages.

The production is made possible with a grant from the Yamhill County Cultural Coalition. Supporting partners include George Fox University Theatre, Chehalem Cultural Center, Impact Printing and Pic(k)tography.
