Lisa Carlson

Executive Director

Lisa has been working with Valley Rep since its inception in 2011, and recently took over as Executive Director summer 2015. She is thrilled to be working with such a creative and dedicated team and community, here in Newberg. Her past credits with Valley Rep include Barefoot in the Park, stage manager; A Break in the Clouds, props, and Sunset Limited, stage manager. Her past work, among a variety of roles, includes stage management with Newberry Opera House and University Opera companies in South Carolina, and touring with The Aquila Theatre Company of London. Lisa resides in Newberg with her son Charlie and cat, Mr. Pancakes.

Ian Rutledge

Technical Director

Ian Rutledge has a BA in Theatre: Design/Technology/Acting/Directing from George Fox University in Newberg OR. He has participated in various GFU productions including: The Servant of Two Masters, Mrs. Packard, Enchanted April, The Game’s Afoot, Twelfth Night, and University Players: Point Me Home. Ian’s back stage work includes The House Of Bernarda Alba (Stage Manager), Little Women (Lighting Designer), These Shining Lives (Properties Designer) and Tartuffe (Lighting Designer). In addition to his work with Valley Repertory Theatre, Ian is on staff at the Oregon Ballet Theatre where he is serving as the Sound Coordinator.

Eric Boles

Resident Director

Eric Boles has been in the entertainment business for over 50 years. He has acted, written, directed, produced, and cast productions at the Mark Taper Forum, the Godspeed Opera House, the Arena Stage in Washington DC, the Longwharf Theatre, and the San Jose Rep.
During his casting career in Los Angeles, he cast and coached Brad Pitt in his first feature starring role, before moving on to run the theatre department at Montclair Preparatory School. There he directed over 40 plays and discreetly tried to convince Nicole Richie not to star in The Simple Life alongside Paris Hilton.
He has performed stand-up comedy at Dangerfield’s, The Comedy Store, and The Icehouse, as well as in front of his kids’ significant others, much to their chagrin. He was assistant director at the Lincoln Center in New York, and has had seven of his own one-act plays produced in Los Angeles. He has won three Drama Log awards and one LA Weekly Award for acting.
He earned his BA in Theater from the California Institute of the Arts, and additionally has studied with Lee Strasburg at the Actors’ Studio, Uta Hagen at Herbert Berghof Studios in New York, Michael Shurtleff, and The Groundlings. He has taught improvisation techniques and acting to adults who behave like children, and children who behave like adults all across California.

Emily Harmon-Watilo

Box Office Manager

Emily is originally from Washington state, where she started acting in elementary school.  A series of theatre and non-theatre experiences have led her back to Newberg, after graduating with Bachelor of Arts degrees in Theatre and Spanish from George Fox University.  This is her second season working with Valley Rep. Emily’s theatre credits include; Ion, The Diviners, Doubt, The Lady of Larkspur Lotion, A Thing of Beauty, Babes in Toyland, Aida, &most recently, The Glass Menagerie with Valley Rep. Emily is grateful to have had the privilege to work with such a talented and focused team and to have a family that supports and encourages her every endeavor.

Jeremiah Rickert

Media Specialist

Born and raised in Newberg, Jeremiah joins the VRT team as a video and media specialist.  In addition to being the in-house replay operator for the Portland Timbers and Portland Thorns, he has worked for just about every sports team in Portland except for the Blazers.  This includes the Portland Winterhawks (both in-house and TV broadcasts on CW 32) Portland State Vikings, University of Portland Pilots, and the dearly departed Portland Beavers.  In addition to acting in plays and musicals at Newberg High School, Jeremiah built sets for the Oregon State University theatre, and has written and acted in a variety of independent film projects in the Portland area, and has produced DVDs for  every play, concert, and graduation for Newberg’s Veritas School since 2007.
